- Object name(s):
- fragment; Fragment of Tomb Wall
- Brief description:
- This shows a quail chick and possibly the feet on an owl. The quail chick is the hieroglyph for the sound value "oo" (for which we use W or U). Relief carving was the most expensive form of tomb decoration as the hieroglyphs were shown by cutting back the greater part of the background limestone. This fragment is almost certainly from the Tomb of the Pharaoh Seti I discovered by Belzoni in 1817.
