Collection history (Collection development policy)
Local residents have donated items to the Museum since it was first opened in 1982. These include objects dug up in gardens, discovered in attics and inherited from ancestors as well as originating from shops, offices and other businesses in the town. To these have been added two major collections of family papers and memorabilia plus, recently, items from a local estate agent’s offices. In addition the Museum has made a small number of purchases.
Until 2018, the Museum was housed in a Georgian building in the centre of Woodbridge. In 2018 it moved to a modern industrial-style building on the riverside in Woodbridge.
