The museum is devoted to the life and work of Octavia Hill. Amongst the personal items on display are some watercolours and copies of painting which she did under the tutelage of John Ruskin, her desk, and a cross given to her by Princess Alice in recognition of her work.; The museum hold original archive material relating to Octavia Hill, such as her Common Place Book, as well as books and pamphlets.; Small collection of photographs and copy images of Hill and her associates.; In addition to Hill’s own watercolours, the museum displays include a mural known as the The ‘Skyrack’ mural by decorative artist George Downes, which has thirty-eight scenes set within and around the Skyrack oak tree and tells the story of the Hill family from 1830-1912, the year of Octavia Hill’s death.
