  • Collection history (Collection development policy)

The collection was started in 2002 with the establishment of The Glasgow Police Museum. Several members of the governing body, The Glasgow Police Heritage Society, had previous experience with both the then Strathclyde Police Museum and police historical research. Artefacts were obtained on loan from the reserve collection of the Strathclyde Police Museum and other private individuals. Soon after it opened, former police officers and their families donated medals, uniforms, ephemera and equipment. This ensured the expansion of the collection and remains the main source of artefacts for the museum today.
