  Sir Isaac Newton Collection

  The collection contains artefacts and archival material relating to Sir Issac Newton, this includes: Principia: The Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy, by Sir Isaac Newton (3rd ed.)a published volume of scientific writings detailing Newton’s theories on the Laws of Motion and Memoirs of the Life of Sir Isaac Newton, by William Stukeley (1752), handwritten memoirs of Newton written by the antiquarian William Stukeley. Two manuscripts, one a short letter and one longer manuscript, both described by Stukeley as memoirs of Newton. National significance.

  Local significance. The museum holds 40 ancient Egyptian objects. Classes of objects represented in the collection include: amulets; glass vessels; jewellery; metal figures; animal remains (mummies); human remains (mummies); shabtis; stone figures; textiles; toilet articles. The museum also possesses a series of 67 nineteenth century squeezes, casts and old photographs.
