Collection history (Collection development policy)
The collection of Cromarty Courthouse has grown mainly by gifts/donations from the public. Occasionally there have been purchases where exceptional local items have come up for auction. A few items have been left to the museum as bequests and there have been several allocations from Treasure Trove that have been grant funded.

• 6 items of 17th century communion plate from the parish of Resolis.
• One 17th century gold poesy ring.
• 10 items of equipment from Cromarty Lighthouse.
