    Science and Industry Collection

    The collection includes objects associated with the Hodbarrow Haematite Ore Mines and Iron and Steel manufacturing at Millom. Other local industry includes Hallthwaites Woollen Mill and there are many items relating to local commerce, ranging from chemists’ jars to tinned groceries and haberdashery.

    Domestic items range from the 19th century (Victorian) to mid 20th century. Local parishes also feature in addition to housing, local religion and the Salvation Army, lighting, miscellaneous tools, ephemera and magazines. Childhood collections include toys and games and education, and there are also items related to hobbies and pastimes. The museum also has larger items such as a wooden post box and a mortuary cart and stretcher.
