  The George Eliot collection celebrates the life and work of the Victorian author.

  This small collection does not adequately represent the important Roman sites at Mancetter and Hartshill, or the Medieval kilns at Chilvers Colton and Nuneaton Priory.

  The museum holds one ancient Egyptian object. Class of object represented in the collection: pottery. The pottery vessel is incomplete and reconstructed from sherds.

  The silk ribbon trade was important in 19th.C. Nuneaton and is not adequately represented in this collection. The main strengths of the collection lie in material from 1850-1950, with some flat textiles.

  Ethnography Collection

  The collection includes material from Africa, the Americas, Canada, Australia, India, Japan, Malaysia, Europe, the Middle East, New Zealand, Polynesia and Tibet. Part of the collection was transferred from the Herbert Art Gallery, Coventry, when it closed its Ethnographic collections in 1975.
