    Costume and Textile Collection

    About 450 items in the collection, two thirds of which is women’s costume consisting of dresses, blouses, skirts from late 19th Century to 1960s complimented by accessories of hats, shawls, aprons, gloves, parasols, nightware and some occupational uniforms e.g. WRVS and St John’s. Men’s costume is 3 court dresses, uniforms, smocks, evening suit from 1940s, nightware, ties, hats, shoes and gaiters. Children’s costume is christening dresses, nightware, bonnets, capes and underwear.
