- The Bank
- Object name(s):
- print
- Brief description:
- The interior of Robert Taylor's rotunda in the Bank of England when used as a stock exchange. An arc of the pilastered wall and part of the domed ceiling form a background. The floor is covered with groups of small figures, three women among them. On the right a man wearing a cocked hat, holding a staff and waving a rattle, stands above a crowd of excited bidders. On the wall above his head is the notice: 'No Clerk to act as broker.' Behind is a table at which men stand to write. On the wall above it is the inscription 'Navy &c £5 Pr Cr Anns'.
