- The medal was struck by Alfred Goater, a wholesale stationer, engraver, printer, embosser, etc. of Mount Street Works, Nottingham.
The "Nottingham and Midland Counties Working Classes Art and Industrial Exhibition" was held on Horse-Fair Close, Sherwood Street / Shakespear Street, Nottingham (later the University College, Free Library and Free Museum site) and consisted of arts, industrial crafts and inventions on the style of the Great Exhibition in 1851.
"Medal; bronze, awarded at the Nottingham and Midland Counties Industrial Exhibition, 1865. Obv: A beehive upon a pedestal decorated with medallions, enclosing the arms of Leicester, Derby and supported by two female figures representing Art and Science with attributes seated on the ground.
