Top bar: Bar surmounted by curling foliage, infilled with dark blue enamel and with text reading 'FOUNDER'. Ribbon: Seven rows and three columns of cylindrical metal links. Ribbon device: Organist's device being a lyre in gold plated silver. Hanging device: Painted in colour enamel, an image of Vulcan the Roman god of metal work and craft, working with a black bird beside him. The image is encircled by a band of dark blue enamel with text reading 'VULCAN LODGE / No. 3181'. The image is pinned to a five pointed star with ridges in relief on each ray. Pin: Vertical.
