- Unite the UNION I BACK HACKNEY WORKERS IN THEIR FIGHT FOR PAY JUSTICE Dear Mayor of Hackney Philip Glanville, As the Mayor of Hackney I am sure you agree that the Hackney workers working throughout the pandemic for key services in the community deserve a pay rise. It is not fair that workers are being forced to accept a 1.75% pay offer when inflation is around 10%. This is a significant pay cut to wages that have stagnated for years. Please do the right thing and ensure that these workers that we rely on for basic services and who have risked their health and that of their loved ones during the pandemic are given a decent pay rise. Hackney council has £300 million in reserve fun. We ask you to use it to give our key workers a decent pay rise and enter into meaningful negotiations with Unite the Union to end this dispute. You have the power to sort this out.
