Butter stamp
Brief description:
Large wooden butter stamp with a cow and tree design in a wooden casing. When butter was sold in pats, rather than tubs, the mould would have shaped the pat and the stamp would have imprinted the design onto the top of the pat which was used to identify the farm dairy who produced the butter. Sometimes they featured the name of the seller.
