A photograph of Joseph Craven of Ashfield Thornton mounted onto a glossy green board. Joseph Craven is wearing a tweed hunting outfit and plus fours and is holding a shotgun. Photographed at Kildwick. Joseph Craven was a Member of the Keighley Moor Shoot. On the verso of the image is a description which is signed by JJ Brigg of Kildwick Hall. Probably a Gelatin Silver Print, possibly a later print made from an earlier negative.

Object history note:
Joseph Craven was a worsted manufacturer and a liberal politician. He sat in the House of Commons from 1885 - 1892. His father, also Joshua Craven, was a wool spinner and manufacturer and established a spinning mill in Thornton in 1831. Joshua Craven partnered in the Keighley Moor Shoot, where he is photographed. He was also a member of Bradford Chamber of Commerce and a Governor of Thornton School and Crossley Orphanage. In 1885 he was elected MP for Shipley and held the seat until he stood down in 1892. His wife was Ellen Knowles who he married in 1845.
