- Brief description:
- Bone china mug produced in 1999 to celebrate 80 years since the founding of Rugby High School for Girls. Features the design of a figure reaching up to hold a star (known as The Light of Knowledge), which was also on a tile panel on the side of the original school building (Clifton Road), and is now also part of the collection. The panel is made of ceramic tile and was designed by Carter and Co of Poole Pottery, possibly by the artists Harrold and Phoebe Stabler. A needlepoint replica of the design was also produced and hangs in the main hall of the Longrood Road site. The mug was made by McLaggan Smith Mugs Ltd, in Alexandria, Scotland.
