- Brief description:
- Badge, King’s Prize Finalist, National Rifle Association, awarded to WO2 George Lee, Army Physical Training Staff, 1922. Shooting accurately has always been crucial to soldiers. According to the 'Musketry Regulations' of 1914, rifle training aimed to familiarise troops with the capabilities of their weapons and ammunition, the care of arms, the theory of rifle fire, aiming and firing, visual training and judging distance. All regiments took great pride in their shooting and competitions with other units helped hone marksmanship while reinforcing esprit de corps. This badge belonged to Warrant Officer George Lee and marked success at the National Rifle Association’s Service Championships at Bisley. For several years, Lee instructed at the Small Arms School at Hythe.
