Brief description:
Sample of 'REXINE' wallcovering, Insulin 8.25, nitrcellulose-coated fabric, stencil-printed. Nested hexagonal motif pattern surrounded by circles, designed from the basic structure of insulin, from Dorothy Hodgkin's crystallography, designer Charles C. Garnier, manufactured by ICI Leathercloth Division, Hyde, Cheshire, England, 1950-1951, 183 x 155 mm. Material used for the entrance to the 'Stop Press' section of the Science Exhibition at the Science Museum. Part of a collection of 83 samples designed for the 1951 Festival of Britain, based on X-ray crystallographic pattern.
