Brief description:
Silver metal engraved plate jewel. Obverse, central to the design is the figure Hermes/Mercury with wings at his ankles holding a caduceus in his right hand and acacia leaves in his left. To the left of him is the Moderns Grand Lodge coat of arms being a shield with a central cheveron containing a pair of compasses. Above are two castle towers with a third below. Above and below the shield are two set squares. Behind the figure to the right is a tower with a dove on the top. There is a presentation inscription on the reverse and a pierced hanging loop at the top.

Comments:
Operative Lodge (later known as Deva Lodge) No. 651 was granted its warrant on 23 June 1837 and met at five different Cheshire venues while working. These were as follows. The Old Nag's Head, Foregate Street, Chester from 1837, a Lodge Room, Bridge Street, Chester in 1839, the Hop-pole Inn, Foregate Street, Chester from 1839, the Blossom Inn, Foregate Street, Chester from 1847 and finally, the White Lion Hotel, Northgate Street, Chester from 1853 where it met until the lodge was erased on 3 December 1856.
