Title:
Trimphone telephone
Object name(s):
telephone; landline telephone
Brief description:
This telephone called the 'Trimphone' was designed by Martyn Rowlands in the 1960s. It is suggested that the TRIM part of the name stands for Tone Ring Illuminator Model, refering to the an illumintated dial. The sleek and modern design was original and differed from conventional telephones by having the handset vertically along the length of the phone, because of this it won the Design Centre Award in 1966. This version is made from pale and dark green ABS plastic with a smoky transparent plastic dial, possibly acrylic.
