Apron (undress) for a Grand Secretary, circa 1830-1840s.

Brief description:
Rectangular apron with a triangular flap, in white leather with a border of ribbed silk, in dark blue. Suspended from the flap are two ribbons in the same silk, each ended with a bar of gold purl and pearl purl and finished with gold bullion tassels. There are three levels embroidered in dark blue silk, one on the flap and two on the apron. At the centre of the apron is the device of a Grand Secretary embroidered in blue silks, being crossed quills within a roundel containing a wreath of wheat and acacia. The apron is lined in dark blue silk with a similar tie belt.
