- Julian Goldsmid (1838-1896) was a member of the University of London Senate and, in 1895-6, Vice-Chancellor. It is he who suggested in 1870 the importance of the University of London having a library and provided £1,000 for classics books, to be spent over ten years. Portrait signed and dated 1896. In gilt gesso frame.
