- Architect Charles Holden (1875-1960) had been involved in designing the building for the King's Collge of Household and Social Science before he designed the Senate House building of the University, his greatest work. He stated famously of Senate House: "I have designed it to last five hundred years". Portrait signed and dated. On green marble plinth.
