Top bar: Gold plated silver banner with scrolling ends infilled with dark blue enamel and with text reading 'FOUNDER'. Beneath the bar is a foliage motif also in gold plated silver. Ribbon: Ribbed silk in dark blue. Bottom bar: Gold plated silver bar composed of an engraved foliage design. Hanging device: Two shields placed over lapping each other. The left shield bears the civic coat of arms of colchester being a cross with serrated edges surrounded by three ducal crowns on a red enamel background. The right shield bears the civic arms of Essex being three gold swords (seaxes) laid horizontally on a red enamel background. They are pinned on to a triangle contained within a heart shaped foliage design all in gold plated silver. The bottom of the heart is engraved with a floral motif above which is wrapped a banner infilled with white enamel with text reading '1904'. Above the shields is a wavy banner with scrolling ends infilled with white enamel and with text reading 'RAINHAM / LODGE / No. 3079'. Finally, surmounting the device is a five pointed star in gold plated silver. Pin: Missing.
