Brief description:
Square abstract painting in red, yellow, orange and blue. Barbara Delaney (b. 1941) is a painter, draughtsman and teacher, born in Osnabrueck, Germany. Delaney studied at the Central School of Art in London in 1965 and taught at Camberwell College, as well as at de Montfort in Leicester. Her work is held in numerous public collections, including: British Museum, Birmingham and Leicester Museums & Art Galleries, Government Art Collection, Contemporary Art Society, Brunel, Open, Southampton and Surrey Universities, and Nuffield Foundation. An abstract painting which was given with two other works by Roger Hilton NCMG 2023-65 and Jeremy Moon NCMG 2023-66.

A receipt for purchase was included with the painting, showing the work was purchased from Woolff Gallery, 69 Leonard Street, London EC2A 4QS in 2002 for £850 by Mr Paul Tomson, 28 St Paul's Square, York, YO24 4BD. A note on the back of the canvas shows that the work was chosen for an exhibition at Hall Galleries in 1996. Otherwise the work is undated.
