Brief description:
This female nightjar came from near Torquay in Devon and was donated by Mr F. Pershouse in 1921. Nightjars do not construct nests but lay their eggs on ground vegetation. Mottled plumage provides perfect camouflage whilst incubating the eggs. It has a distinctive churring call. This object is on display at RAMM in the In Fine Feather gallery.
