Comments:
George Washington (1732-1799) was the first President of the United States and a freemason. He was initiated into Fredericksburg Lodge No. 4, Virginia in 1752 and became Master of the lodge in 1753. He was heavily involved in his masonic duties throughout his life and was well-respected for his dedication to the Craft. During the American War of Independence he went to great efforts to visit lodges that had been formed through different military groups. He was made an honorary member of several lodges and at his burial at Mount Vernon in 1799 he was also given masonic rites by Alexandria Lodge, No. 22.
Comments:
Edgar A. Tennis was installed as Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania in 1902 at the age of 45.
