Object name(s):
Printing block
Brief description:
Print block showing the growth of Rugby. It is made from wood with the design raised in metal. The design is seen in reverse so that when it prints the image would be the right way round. This block seems to show the occupations in Rugby. It has what looks like a map of the central area of Rugby with the BTH site marked on, as well as the cattle market. There are then a number of shaded areas with numbers on and a key on the right hand side (would be on the left when printed) shows what these mean. They include the concentrations of bricklayers, electric workers and railway workers and also sjhow where the rail stations are. The scale of the plan is shown at the bottom and appears to be 1/2 mile to 2".
