Brief description:
Car pennant, 44th Indian Army Division, 1942-1943 (c). Red wool cloth cut in the shape of a guidon; embroidered design in the centre with a black silk bull with red hooves, red horns and a red eye, on a white linen ground, within a black silk circlet; attached to lower hoist corner, two tie straps of crimson bunting. Pennant used by General Sir Frank Messervy (1893-1974), commander of 43rd Indian Armoured Division from 1942 to 1943. Messervy served with 4th Corps from 1944 to 1945. One of a collection of ten car pennants used by General Sir Frank Messervy, 1940-1948.
