- William Norman Birkett, 1st Baron Birkett (1883-1962), a leading judge, served as Chairman of the Court of the University of London from 1948 until 1962. Portrait signed and dated. In moulded gilded frame. It is one of several portraits of notable academics by artist Claude Rogers, a Londoner who studied (spectacularly successfully) and later taught at the Slade School, University College London. Rogers was elected a Fellow of UCL in 1965.
