War damage outside the Bank
Object name(s):
painting
Brief description:
Framed picture of the view across Bank intersection from Mansion House, after bombing in 1941. There is a massive crater in the centre of the road junction, which has been bridged over to allow vehicles to pass - cars and buses drive across. The Bank of England is at the left of the picture, the Royal Exchange in the centre distance behind the bombsite. Foot traffic and bicycles circle the crater. A crane is still in position at the end of Threadneedle Street.
