- Words from Hackney INSIDE: Our Voice: Words from hackney is a celebration of the work generated through the Words Unite campaign, a community-wide initiative to get Hackney reading. The collection of writing set out in this book aims to give a flavour of what the campaign is about. It showcases some of the excellent work that has been created by Hackney pupils through a number of Words Unite community events, as well as the Linklaters Reading and Writing Challenge and the Hackney Poet Laureate competition. Words Unite has been the focal poitn for Linklaters' support for improving literacy across Hackney: it has enabled a successful community partnership to develop between the corporate world of Linklaters, local community groups, local govermnent, voluntary organisations, libraries and schools. It has encouraged adults and children to become enthusiastic, independent and inquiring readers. Above all, Words Unite has been about inspiring people to read more, whether alone or by reading together with family and friends.
