United States Army cold weather pile cap, 1950 (c). This pile cap, with warm ear-flaps, was worn by Lieutenant (later Colonel) Leslie Sharpe of 1st Battalion, The Middlesex Regiment, during 1950-1951. This cap is typical of the type of equipment the US supplied to British troops during their first extreme Korean winter.
