Brief description:
Leather bond album with tooled covers. Inscribed 'Emily Thornton Down 1876'. Contains 20 pages with 24 albumen prints of scenes of England and Paris. The Frith series contains prints of: a panorama of Paris, the Arc de Triumphe, Conciergerie, Place de la Concorde, Sainte Chapelle 4118, the Louvre glass gallery, the Louvre battle gallery, Canterbury Cathedral, Hesketh Crescent Torquay 1478, westminster abbey choir 3515 and Waldron Hill Torquay 38817 (collotype). It also contains an E. Zeigler print of the new opera house in Notre Dame and anonymously made prints of: the interior of the Paris Opera house (drawing), Bois de Boulogne, St Chapelle interior, a ruined church, Rosebank at Donaghadee, St. Albans, the Houses of Parliament, a croquet party, a long walk summer house and a grotto.
