On the obverse central to the design is a relief depiction of a double-headed eagle grasping a sword in its talons and from which is suspended a banner bearing text reading 'SPES MEA IN DEUS EST'. Arching the central design is relief text reading 'IOWA CONSISTORY NO. 2, CEDAR RAPIDS, IA.'. On the reverse central to the design is a relief depiction of three tiered steps upon which is a Latin cross entwined with leaves and a rose. Arching the central design is relief text reading 'BRUCE CHAPTER NO. 2, ROSE CROIX.'.
