- Signed and inscribed: 'with birthday wishes from Gilbert Spencer 1922'. Framed and glazed. The artist, Gilbert Spencer, studied among other places at the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London. He served as an official War Artist (1940-1943): a link with Senate House, which housed the Ministry of Information during the Second World War.
