note from minutes of their meeting 1908 'Messrs Carters of Poole have presented 500 of these protrait tiles free to the Poole Borough League of Help. The proceeds of the sale of these will be devoted to its fund. Borough of Poole Guild of Help thank Carter's for their kind gift of this production' (see letter in information file); Poole Guild of Help was apparently inaugurated in December 1907 (same thing?), had a Head for each borough ward and helpers who helped those in need (involved with emergency school meals 18.7.1921) (info from Janet Mellors Aug 07)
