Collar and jewel for the Master of Holden Lodge, No. 2946 with chain, Lodge badge and Grand Lodge 250th anniversary badge.

Brief description:
Light blue ribbed and watered fabric collar from which is suspended a Master's set square in silver engraved on the obverse with a foliage design. A silver coloured metal chain is sewn to the collar consisting of plates which are pierced and engraved with the monogram 'HL', wreath framed stars, wreath framed set square and compasses and knots. At the base of the chain is the Lodge badge infilled enamel and mounted on silver. The Lodge badge is made up of two silver shields placed at an angle to each other. The lodge badge consists of the coat of arms of the City of London and the civic arms of Birmingham, on shields and placed at an angle to each other. Between the two shields is a dark blue enamel oval shaped disc with text reading '2946'. Two silver banners sit above the shields both infilled with dark blue enamel and with silver text reading 'HOLDEN / LODGE'. Below the shields is a silver banner with forked ends and dark blue enamelled text reading 'VIS / UNITA / FORTIOR'. Below the Lodge badge is the 250th anniversary jewel of Grand Lodge (1717-1967), a silver coloured metal disc with the coat of arms of the Moderns Grand Lodge in red and orange enamel, with a blue enamel frame with text reading 'GRAND / LODGE / 1717 / 1967'.

Comments:
Holden Lodge, No. 2946 was founded for managers and officers of The London City and Midland Bank Ltd. and was the idea of its Managing Director W. Bro. Sir Edward Holden, for whom it is named. The motto of the bank 'VIS UNITA FORTIOR' appears on the Lodge badge and translates as 'UNITED STRENGTH IS STRONGER'. The Lodge was founded in 1902 and erased in 2010.
