Person's biographical note:
Painter and sculptor. Husband of the painter Bim Giardelli. Took a degree in Modern Languages at Oxford before studying at the Ruskin School of Art there, 1930-34. During the early 1940s he was associated with the Dowlais settlement of artists and occasionally worked with Cedric Morris (1889-1982). He taught at University College Cardiff and University College of Wales, Aberystwyth. He lived and worked in Pembrokeshire. He was a member of the 56 Group Wales serving as the Group\'s Chairman between 1959 and 1998. He is best known for his abstract relief constructions evoking the tidal environment
