Red crepe, very small, bought at end of 2nd World War; front panel with fabric regathered into sides, waist, bias cut skirt with small extra insertions of fabric on LHS hem; asymmetric hem, LHS shorter than RHS; hem deep at back, narrow at front, made from restricted fabric; Vneck with slight ruching, 2 tabs; tie belt at back; short sleeves (just above elbow), gathered top ruched detail along side of sleeve, echoing front panel. Short side opening with 4 press studs; short back neck opening with 3 hooks.

Wooden; stand, 2 uprights with groove on inside edge to hold stack of wooden rods 'quills'; to use: quills removed, damp trimming placed at bottom of stand, 1 quill put in, trimming put over quill, 2nd quill inserted, trimming turned back over 2nd, 3rd placed and so on; when finished missing cross-piece wedged down on top, placed in front of fire to dry. 'Skirt' made up of seven 16 1/2" panels to form a very wide cylinder; no shaping at either end; embroidery on each panel starts at hem with piece of ground / grass, floral design 'grows' from this to the top; slight variation in design and colours in each panel.
