Martin Smyth attacks what he perceives as the myths of Irish nationalism. Rev. Martin Smyth became Grand Master of the Orange Order in 1971 and was MP for South Belfast from 1982 until 2005.

- Folded leaflet issued by Ulster Vanguard entitled 'Government Without Right.' Vanguard produced this leaflet in the wake of the suspension of the Northern Ireland Parliament and the introduction of Direct Rule from Westminster in March 1972. Vanguard argue that the UK government had acted illegally by unilaterally suspending the Stormont Parliament and that Direct Rule did not have the consent of people in Northern Ireland.

- Poster issued by the Unionist Publicity Department in March 1973 to urge support for the British connection during the Referendum on the subject. Printed light and dark blue,red, yellow, and black on white, by W. & G. Baird, Antrim. This poster was produced by the Ulster Unionist Party at the time of the border poll referendum. The poster was intended to encourage support for maintaining the link between Britain and Northern Ireland. Unusually the poster features two map images of Northern Ireland, one featuring a Northern Ireland flag symbol and the other a Union Flag.

- Ulster Vanguard poster printed black on 'day-glo' orange. Vanguard Unionist Loyalist Coalition for Assembly Elections 1973. The phrase ‘Stop the terror and the tears’ refers to the Northern Ireland Office publication ‘The Terror and the Tears’ of August 1972. While the NIO publication was critical of the IRA Vanguard believed that the Northern Ireland Office was not taking a strong enough security line.

In the wake of the Ulster Workers’ Council strike Brian Faulkner and other pro-power sharing unionists formed the Unionist Party of Northern Ireland. In the 1975 Northern Ireland Convention election, however, they received 7.7% of first preference votes compared to the United Ulster Unionist Council’s 53.7%.
