Distinguishing features:
The Middle Hill tunnel at Box is the shorter of the two railway tunnels at Box and dates from 1840. The photograph shows one of the two tunnel portals, both listed Grade II*. The much longer Box Tunnel was built in 1837-41 and is a great engineering feat of Brunel's

This photograph was originally misattributed as the great Box Tunnel. It was correctly identified as Middle Hill Tunnel Box on 9 April 2019 (Brunel's birthday). SAM 9.4.2019
