Brief description:
The Republic of Korea Army General Service Medal or Korean War Service Medal was issued by the South Korean Government to personnel who served for 30 days during the Korean War (1950-1953). The crossed bullets design seen on this example was introduced in 1954 to replace the earlier five pointed star design which was primarily awarded to South Korean troops. This example was awarded to Captain Patrick Emerson of the Royal Australian Regiment. This medal was only approved for wear by the Australian Government in 2017.
