Title:
Bridge at Subiaco
Object name(s):
Picture; French
Brief description:
This sketch shows the Bridge of Campo d'Arco which crosses the River Aniene outside Subiaco, a town in the Sabine hills some seventy kilometres east of Rome. The strong, simple architecture of the old bridge is thrown into relief by the dramatic play of light and shadow across it. The artist, also known as Constantin d'Aix, was a founder of the Provençal school of landscape painting.
