Brief description:
Top bar: Gold bar with a circular section of white enamel with text reading '1903-4' and the rest of the bar being infilled with dark blue enamel with text reading 'SECUNDUS'. Ribbon: Ribbed silk in light blue. Bottom bar: Five shields mounted on a gold plate with engraved foliage design. The centre shield is the coat of arms of St. Edmund, King of East Anglia being three gold ducal crowns on a dark blue enamel background. The top shield is the Colchester coat of arms being a gold cross surrounded by three ducal crowns on a red enamel background. To the right is the Ipswich coat of arms being divided into two vertical halves. The left half contains a gold lion on a red enamel background. The right half contains three gold hulls of medieval ships on a blue enamel background. Bottom bar (cont.): The bottom shield is the Cambridge coat of arms being a gold bridge over the River Cam on a red enamel background. Above the bridge is a gold fleur-de-lis between two gold heraldic roses and on the river are three gold sailing boats. To the left is the Norwich coat of arms being a gold three-towered castle above a gold lion on a red enamel background. The plate is framed by a gold foliage design from which is draped a gold banner with forked ends infilled with dark blue and white enamel with text reading 'THE EAST / ANGLIAN / LODGE'. Below the banner is a heart shaped gold plated infilled with dark blue enamel and with text reading 'No. 2920'. The frame is completed at the top of the device by a knight's helmet in a silver coloured metal. Hanging device: Gold set square with thistle design in relief, beneath which is suspended the 47th proposition of Euclid, also in gold. There is a presentation inscription on the reverse. Comments:
The design on this jewel is the second badge design the East Anglian Lodge, No. 2920 have used. The first design, used up until October 1903, although different is similar in its use of local heraldry and is visible on the Founder and Consecrating Master jewels (M2004/1543, M2004/1544).
