Object name(s):
slide; Lantern Slide: Clifton Suspension Bridge; Magic Lantern Slide: Clifton Suspension Bridge
Brief description:
This image by William Weaver Baker shows a panoramic view of Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. The construction of the bridge took thirty-three years. It is famously the work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and is still a distinctive landmark. In this image Weaver Baker has gained a view of the whole bridge, unlike the other two images he took of details of the bridge. He mainly took photographs of buildings and objects in Exeter, but does appear to have travelled further afield to see places of special architectural interest. This object is not on display. Inscription edges handwritten handwritten 'CLIFTON BRIDGE' on top edge front (under cover glass) handwritten handwritten 'Clifton Suspension Bridge' on top edge
