Set square and compass framing a Pythagorean star (five pointed) in matt gold and within a matt gold roundel with Gothic text in polished relief reading 'ESSEX', a wreath of wheat and acacia in polished relief and a trim in heavily engraved relief with accompanying hanging loop. The reverse is polished and with presentation inscription.
