- Silver coloured metal medal. On the obverse central to the design is a relief depiction of three left facing busts of the three German Emperors William I (1797-1888), Frederick III (1831-1888), and William II (1859-1941) (see notes below). Encircling this is relief text reading 'WILHELM . I . FRIEDERICH . III . WILHELM . II .'. At the bottom of the medal are two sprigs of acacia tied with a ribbon. On the reverse central to the design is an engraved depiction of a set square and compass mounted on to a rectangular plaque surrounded by three eagles within a triangle. Around the triangle is engraved text reading 'CARL ZU DEN / DREI ADLERN / OR ERFURT'. Encircling the whole design are sprigs of oak leaves tied with ribbons.

- William I, Emperor of Germany (1797-1888), was initiated into Freemasonry in 1840 into a Lodge in Berlin run by the three Grand Masters of the three Grand Lodges of Berlin. His role was protector of all Lodges in the kingdom.

- William II, Emperor of Germany (1859-1941), was a member of Lodge 'zu den drei goldenen Schlüsseln', No. 60, in Berlin until he became king. It is not known exactly when and to which lodge he was first initiated.
- Comments:
- Frederick III, Emperor of Germany, (1831-1888), was initiated into freemasonry in 1853 by his father. In 1860 he became Grand Master of the Grand National Lodge of Prussia. He also held the role of Presidential Chair at the Union of Berlin Grand Lodges' meetings.
