Brief description:
This pencil and watercolour drawing has been attributed to PH Gosse. Compass jellyfish can sometimes be found washed up on Devon’s beaches (e.g. Woolacombe) and are easily recognised by the distinctive brown markings on the bell. This object is not on display. Inscription lower centre pencil entitled & dated Chrysaora Hyoscella Ilfracombe 1856
