Brief description:
Cap badge, other ranks, Army Ordnance Corps, 1902-1918 (c). The badge of the Army Ordnance Corps consists of a shield charged with the arms of the Board of Ordnance. Below the Garter is a tripartite scroll bearing the unit title. The Board of Ordnance had been responsible for the provision of supplies until 1855. The Army Ordnance Corps was first established in 1896. At the end of the First World War the unit was granted the title ‘Royal’ and the badge was redesigned.
